In “Insula Ursilor”, Regizorul Martin Rysavy continua explorarile sale pe tema Republicii Sakha, sau Yakutia, Districtul Estic Federal al Rusiei. Filmul capteaza viata rezidentilor celei mai indepartate parti a teritoriului, Nizhnekolymsky Ulus. Insulele Ursilor sunt localizate in Marea Estica a Siberiei, la gurile de varsare ale raului Kolyma. Camera de filmat urmareste padurarii care au grija de de rezervatiile naturale, in timp ce calatoresc spre o statie polara izolata, print vastul spatiu unde trecutul intalneste prezentul. Un portret al peisajului, a istoriei si a oamenilor care il strabat si il locuiesc.
